Peeps as Promised
Healing Ceremony
What is this? A golden rope blessed by His Holiness the Dali Lama and 1700 other Monks, given to us by The Monks of Gaden Shartse Monastery http://www.gadenshartsetour.org/ Friday night we met the Venerable Lamas and Monks during a Healing and Purification Ceremony. I was awestruck and humbled. The sounds of the chanting and the music permeates your whole body. In one course of the ceremony they passed out dough made of barley flour, you were asked to hold it in your hand and while the Lamas chanted you place the dough wherever you need healing, the Lamas then collected the dough and washed away the impurities causing disease. The winks were wide-eyed and loved the sounds of the chanting and throat singing.Stephanie W

Here is one in the seet of chunky book pages I just finished and sent up to Sedona, (my favorite place in AZ) for a swap themed Alice in Wonderland. The photo is of Alice Liddell, the inspiration behind Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. One of the things I enjoy most about working on a themed swap is it very often takes me in directions I wouldn't expect. Charles Dodgson's (Lewis Carroll) relationship with the Liddell children is quite controversial. When I first saw this picture I instantly thought of the quote and the pouty posture. As I worked through the set of 40 I began to feel a sadness and the meaning of her expression changed, I wanted to scoop her up off that chair and hug her tight. Perhaps she had no polite conversation to make. Here is a link if you'd like to read more; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice_Liddell

My Ode to Pens
Then I thought I would show my cool items I found at Big Lots last year. It was from a group of items that Big Lots apparently acquired from Pier One. It is great with the mirror on the front and I glued one item of what is in the drawer for example. I can change the stuff around easily and it is right in front of my nose. Love that!
Some of most favorite pens are these (Sakura Gelly Roll Glaze Pens) well I looove the Souffle ones and there is new Glittery ones that I have not purchased. mmmmmm.....
and these (Pilot B and my White Uniball Signo Pens) too....
I bought the killer "Pilot B" from Lisa Engelbrecht in class last year. She gets them at a Japanese Bookstore in LA. The "Uniball Signo White"was a gift from Stephanie. We are both always in search of
THE ULTIMATE PERFECT BLACK PEN.
Does such a thing exist??? I have 100 different types of black pens and am still searching... If you can read Japanese or know where else to acquire them...drop me a line!
Still searchin for my favorite black pen,
~Dawn
